M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2016 - Copenhagen DEN - Final results - Victory for Taylor Canfield ISV

The Semi Finals and Final of the second round of the World Match Racing Tour was sailed in Copenhagen yesterday in a fresh breeze. Taylor Canfiel ISV, who elimiated Yann Guichard FRA in the Semi with 3-0 and Iker Martinez ESP winning against Niklas Dackhammer SWE met in the Final full of incidents including a resail after collisions. Canfield ISV was ahead 2-0 when Martinez clearly led in the third match on the way to improve the standings. But 100 meter before the finish line, Martinez, unexperienced in matchracing, went around the downwind mark for another round instead of heading for the arrival and Taylor Canfield ISV inherited herewith the point and was the final 3-0 winner. Iker Martinez ESP demonstrated nevertheless satisfaction, as this was the very first matchrace, and also a first on the M32-catamarans for the two-times Olympic Champions and Volvo Ocean Race veteran. He will be a serious competitor in the World Match Racing Tour.
