The Olympic Classes terminated the Qualification Series yesterday on the Ijssel-Meer in a 14-16 kn breeze, and today, the Medal Races are on the program.
Two Italian teams will duel for victory in the 470s. Winning twice yesterday, Ferrari/Calabro ITA replaced the tied Sivitz/Farneti ITA on rank 1. Luise and Helene Wanser GER as 5th are now the best-ranked women's team. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP are the premature winners in the 49ers as their advantage on the second-ranked duo Kostov/Cupac CRO and Schmidt/Böhme GER is 21 points. Same situation in the RS:X men windsurfers, where the Olympic Champion Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED has 33 points' lead over Paul Rozier FRA. Finishes in the 20ies again and the discard made the Canadians clearly drop out of the top-10. Zach Plavsic CAN on 14th and Gabriel Verrier-Paquette CAN on 21st are the final ranks of the North Americans. In the RS:X women windsurfers, the leading Lilian De Geus FRA was forced to quit the competition with a foot injury. Zofia Noceti-Klepacka POL is now on top with a 7 points' advantage on Peina Chen CHN. First in the Moths is still Ben Koppelaar NED. Sven Kloppenburg GER advanced on rank 2.
