M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2016 - Newport RI, USA - Day 3

Yesterday, the matchracing part of the WMRT Newport Act was initiated after the sail-offs of the 4th and 5th ranked by qualification group. The Tour cardholder Eric Monnin SUI, not yet at ease with the M32, defeated Chris Poole USA and will encounter Nicolaio Sehested DEN in the Round-of-16. The Olympic Champion Iker Martinez ESP however, brilliant finalist at the Copenhagen WMRT event a month age, was eliminated.
The results of the sailed matches are: Taylor Canfield ISV vs Michael Menninger USA 2 to -1,5 penalty points, i.e. qualified for the Quarter Finals. Niklas Dackhammar SWE vs Johnie Berntsson SWE 2-0. Ian Williams GBR vs Matt Jerwood AUS 2-0. Chris Steele NZL vs Steve Thomas AUS 1-1.
