49er - Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI selected for Rio !

With Sweden rejecting the 49er Olympic berth and Canada not confirming the reallocated place (see World Sailing Rio Nations' Table ), the World Sailing tripartite commission allotted the unused Nations‘ place according to the World Sailing Qualification System to Switzerland. Swiss Olympic positively responded to the Swiss Sailing request and selected the young Geneva 49er team Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI for the Rio Olympics based on the Newcomer-Rule in the Swiss Sailing Selection Rules. In light winds, Schneiter/Cujean delivered some remarkable race results and they have now the opportunity to sail in Rio without pressure among the 20 best nations’ 49er teams, and gain experience in view of the 2020 Olympic Regatta in Japan.
