GC32Catamaran Extreme Sailing Series Act 6 Madeira POR Day 3
There was enough wind - 12 kn - in Funchal/Madeira POR yesterday to get the GC32 foiling, and six races were completed. At the start of race 3, Roman Hagara AUT with his 'Red Bull Sailing Team' screamed across the start line at full tilt but got too close to 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI, and the back of their boat clipped the front of the Swiss. The impact between the two super-fast GC32 catamarans snapped a crucial part of Alinghi’s rigging and 16.5-metre carbon fibre mast and sails fell into the water. The video. Thanks to the redress given, the Swiss remain on top of the interim's rankings. 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA now on rank 2 is 5 points behind and everything is open in the final races today ... provided the 'Alinghi' shore crew succeeded to repair the multihull during the past night.
The report with the ranking list.
