IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe 2016/17 Day 11
The leading group consisting of 7 boats - among them Vincent Riou FRA ('PRB') on rank 4 and Paul Meilhat FRA ('SMA') on rank 6 with Open60s without foils - is progressing at good speeds in the freshening trade winds along the Brazilian coast, while the rest of the fleet is barely moving in the extended innertropcial convergence zone. The fleet is more and more split in two parts. The leader Alex Thompson GBR ('Hugo Boss') (here an onboard video) maintains his first position with an 55 miles' advantage on Armel Le Cléac'h FRA (Banque Populaire'). Sébastien Josse FRA ('Edmond de Rothschild') is 5 miles back new on rank 3.
