 IMOCA Open 60  Vendee Globe 2016/17  Day 28, Wilson USA 20th
The main incident during the past 24 hours was the dismasting of Kojiro Shiraishi's JPN Open60 sailing in the big midfleet group on the 13th place. He is now heading under jury-rig for Cape Town only 350 nm away. In the rough conditions, Jérémy Béyou FRA (rank 5) and Arnaud Boissières FRA damaged the top of their main sails, repairable break, but they had to lower the sail for quite some time loosing miles. Armel Le Cléac'h FRA has again taken the lead and was 41 nm ahead of Alex Thompson GBR this morning. Today, a larger group will round Cape of Good Hope. Rich Wilson US is now on rank 20 after the abandonement of Shiraishi JPN.
