Trophée Jules Verne - Trimaran IDEC - Start this morning
Friday, December 16, 2016
With a massive low pressure system arriving from the West, Francis Joyon FRA and his team (Clément Surtel FRA, Gwénolé Gahinet FRA, Bernard Stamm SUI, Sébastien Audigane FRA and Alex Pella ESP) have decided to depart this morning between 7 and 8 h UTC to the Trophée Jules Verne nonstop-around-the-Globe record attempt. After the first try in November abandoned due to too light winds, the forecast seems to be favorable at least to the Equator. The current record set January 2012 by Loïck Peyron and his crew on the trimaran Banque Populaire V is 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds.
