Approaching the Cape Horn, the situation turns more and more in favour of the leading Armel Le Cléac’h FRA who extended his lead on Alex Thomson GBR to 511 miles. Sailing in fresher breeze, he is making 5 kn more as Thomson and the gap will increase again in the next 24 hours. Thomas Ruyant FRA on rank 8 collided with an unidentified object and his Open 60 has severe hull damages with a water ingress. He is on the way to New Zealand, but will rather be difficult for him to repair the alone without assistance. Rich Wilson USA is now 15th and will move up one rank today on 14th after the incident of Thomas Ruyant FRA.
