Trophee Jules Verne Trimaran IDEC Day 41

Francis Joyon FRA and his team (Clément Surtel FRA, Alex Pella ESP, Bernard Stamm SUI, Gwénolé Gahinet FRA and Sébastien Audigane FRA - here a report) crossed the finish line off Ouessant FRA yesterday morning smashing the absolute round-the-world record after 40 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes, and improving the existing time of Loïck Peyron FRA by over 4,5 days. The highlight of this course was the crossing of the Indian Ocean, a 7 days' highspeed ride with an average velocity of 36 kn (67 kmh), the fastest sailing week ever !
