The start to the first leg of the 2017 'Solitaire' was delayed by two hours due to lacking wind. Late in the afternoon, the 43 Solo-Skippers left the Garonne River mouth encountering a freshening breeze, finally with gusts exceeding 40 kn. By this morning, the conditions calmed to moderate winds and the fleet is heading South closely together along the Coast, with the favorites in the lead. Nicolas Lunven FRA was first 0,1 nm ahead of Anthony Marchand FRA. 0,2 nm behind followed Adrien Hardy FRA and Yann Eliès FRA. The best woman Justine Mettraux SUI (Volvo Ocean Race 'Team SCA' crew) was 10th with a 2 nm backlog.
