M32-Catamaran - Match Race World Championship 2017 - Shengzen CHN - Day 1

Yesterday was day one of the Matchracing World Championship in China with the usual World Match Race Tour competition format. The entrants, split in three groups of six, first sail fleetraces on their M32 catamarans to qualify for the matchrace grid of the best 16.
Yesterday, up to 4 races, depending on the groups, were held and racing has resumed again this morning UTC already. Leader in group 1 is Taylor Canfield ISV 3 points ahead of Phil Robertson NZL. In group 2, Chris Steele NZL is 6 points ahead of Ian Williams GBR. Group 3 has completed the qualification round and despite of 2 penalty points, the winner is Pieter-Jan Postma NED ahead of Harry Price AUS.
