The joint Junior World Championship (U23) of the Olympic Skiffs began in Marseille on Monday. Two races were completed in a well-established seabreeze on the opening day, allowing to sail 2 races per class. Here the video of day 1. Yesterday however, the wind was mostly missing and only one 49er group could sail a race.
In the 49ers, Tim Mourniac/Virgil Aubriot FRA are first after 2 heats ahead of Bart Lambriex/Scipio Houtman NED and Louis Chambet/Enzo Lobry FRA. Harry Melges/Finn Rowe USA are 40th, Dylan Jones/Jonathan Kelly CAN 48th among the 52 teams. The only race yesterday - not yet included in the overall rankings - was won by Lars Von Stekelenborg/Manus Offerman NED ahead of Gwendal Lamay/Luke Willim GBR.
In the 49ersFX - men, women and mixed teams - Lucy Wilmot/Nathan Housberg USA lead after 3 races ahead of the first Women's team of Wilma Bobek/Malin Tengström SWE and Keanu Prettner/Niklas Haberl AUT. 39 teams from 9 nations participate.
