470 - World Championship 2021 - Vilamoura POR - Day 4

Friday, March 12, 2021
Major decisions occurred in the fight for the USA 470 women Tokyo ticket after the two Thursday races, but it ain t over till it s over. Race 8 saw a slight recovery of the distanced Atlantic and Nora Brugman (Shelter Island YC) finishing 8th, while the better placed dueling Carmen and Emma Cowles (Larchmont YC) and Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss (St. Francis YC/New York YC) crossed the line down on 24th and 22nd. But the luck turned in favor of the experienced Nikole and Lara in race 9 with a strong 4th race rank, while the Cowles sisters were penalized with a U-flag disqualification at the start and the Brugmann sisters with a disqualification as well. Consequences: Game over for the Brugmans, heavy handicap for the Cowles with a 23 point backlog on Barnes/Dallman-Weiss before the last two races of today. --------------------- The overview on the other results: ----- Anton Dahlberg/Fredrik Bergström SWE maintained their lead in the 470 Men with two 3rd places.
