The Transat Jacques Vabre starts today at 13.27 in Le Havre. ----- At the start 78 two-person teams in 4 classes, a new record participation: No less than 26 IMOCA Open 60s are taking part, including Vendée Globe winner Yannick Bestaven FRA with Jean-Marie Dauris FRA and Justine Mettraux SUI/Simon Fisher GBR. ----- The race of the Ultime-Trimarans, reaching speeds of up to 50 knots, will offer spectacle: François Gabart FRA with his new construction 'Lazartigues' will meet the more experienced 'Edmond de Rothschild' (Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA) and 'Banque Populaire' (Armel Le Cléac'h/Kevin Escoffier FRA) - a preview. ----- There are 7 multis competing in the Ocean Fifty class, including the veteran Yvan Bourgnon SUI together with Gilles Lamiré SUI on 'Groupe GCA - 1001 Sourires'. ----- With 47 teams, the Class 40 has the largest fleet, among the favourites also Simon Koster/Valentin Gautier SUI on their 'Banque du Léman'. Among others are the former Olympic pole vault winner Jean Galfione FRA (with Eric Péron FRA) and the Olympic ski medalist Ivica Kostelic CRO (with Antoine Caliste FRA) as well as three all-women teams. ----- All 4 classes will start together covered livestream on this website.
