IMOCA Open 60, Class 40, Ultime, Ocean50 Transat Jacques Vabre Day 9
While the trimarans are crossing the Doldrums in the middle of the Atlantic - the Ultime trimarans are already through and have hardly been slowed down. ----- 'Edmond de Rothschild' with Franck Cammes/Charles Caudrelier FRA continues to lead with now 250 miles ahead of 'Banque Populaire'. ----- And also in the OceanFifty trimarans, the leaders Sébastiens Rogues/Matthieu Souben FRA could clearly pull away with a lead of 150 miles. But the Doldrums have just begun. After that, it's 700 miles south to Brazil's Fernando de Norhona Islands and back into the Northern Hemisphere to Guadeloupe. ----- The monohulls are sailing closer to the coast of Africa than ever before, with only the pirate exclusion zone off the coast of Mauritania preventing them from benefiting from thermal winds even closer to land. The top 6 group of the Open 60 is passing the Cape Verde Islands today. 'Apivia' with Charlie Dalin/Paul Meilhat FRA leads 14 miles ahead of 'LinkedOut' with Thomas Ruyant/Morgan Lagravière FRA. ----- In Class 40, Antoine Carpentier FRA/Pablo Santurde ESP remain 23 miles ahead of Simon Koster/Valentin Gautier SUI. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
