ILCA 4 - Youth World Championship 2023 - Volos GRE - Day 1

In moderate winds, the ILCA 4 Junior World Championships began yesterday in Greece with two races each. In the Boys fleet, former Opti World Champion Weka Bhanubandh THA took the lead with 1st and 2nd place in his group. The huge fleet (287 competitors, 50 nations) is sailing in 4 groups. Lorenzo Ghirotti ITA and Christian Andreoli ITA follow in 2nd and 3rd place. Ulysse Raison SUI is the best Swiss in 63rd place, Antonio Donelli SUI (rank 131) and Niklas Ambos SUI (139) are also in the first half of the Ranking Boys. Italy is in the lead in the girls' ranking: Nicole Creati ITA is one point ahead of Cleopatra Anastassiou GRE, followed by Clara Lorenzi ITA in third place. Alina Shapovalova UKR, who lives in Switzerland, follows in 4th place. Shana Burger SUI started excellently with a 5th place in the first race, but she had to accept a premature start in the second race and is back in 78th place for the time being.
