18 Footer - JJ Giltinan Trophy - Sydney AUS - Race 1

Just at Press Deadline this morning UTC, the first race of the JJ Giltinan Trophy, the unofficial World Championship of the 18-Footer Class, has been finished on Sydney Harbour. After a bad start, the defending champion 'Honda Marine' with David Mcdiarmid/Matthew Steven/Brad Collins NZL came strongly from behind, winning the race with a 40 second lead on 'Shaw & Partners' of James Dorron AUS. 'Tech2' of Brett Van Munster AUS followed as 3rd. ----- Rain and unconstant winds between 12 and 20kn made the race thrilling with many position changes and .... capsizes.
