Another stormy day with winds exceeding 25kn and big waves impacting the program yesterday with the 49ers completing one race only and the 49ersFX and Nacra-17 remaining ashore .... ----- Surviving the 49er race on rank 10 - one third of the fleet did not finish - Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid USA defended rank 9 overall and will participate in the Medal Race tomorrow. The 49erFX and Nacra-17 did not go afloat at all ..... Together with the RS:X windsurfers, these three classes will sail the Medal Races today without North American competitors. ------ Fighting for a Medal Race slot in the last qualification races tomorrow will be Atlantic Brugman/Nora Brugman USA on 10th in the 470 women. The Finn sailors Tom Ramshaw CAN down on 6th, Luke Muller USA on 8th and even Caleb Paine USA on 12th 9 points behind the cut will also endeavour to make the Medal Race on Sunday. Stu McNay/Dave Hughes USA on rank 14 in the 470 men are probably to far away from the top-10 with a deficit of 20 points. No major changes occurred in the other NorAm rankings. Please have a look at the overview of all North American competitors and the US Sailing Team Report . ------------------------------------- The top ranks in all events are as follows: -----In the RS:X women, Yunxiu Lu CHN is about to celebrate her second success within two weeks, as she will start to the Medal Race with a 13 point lead on Katy Spychakov ISR. ----- In the RS:X men, the fight for the Medals will be close as the first four are separated by 6 points only. Pierre Le Coq FRA leads head of Kun Bi CHN. ----- The only race of the 49ers was won by Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT advancing on rank 3. Tim Fischer/Fabian Graf GER remain on top. ----- All other classes will sail the last fleetraces tomorrow. ----- Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS extended their lead in the 470 men on Xammar/Rodriguez ESP to 14 points. ----- Elena Berta/Bianca Caruso ITA are first in the 470 women, one point ahead of Mia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS. ----- The Lasers Standard completing two races have still Pavlos Kontides CYP as clear leader ahead of Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA. ----- In the Lasers Radial also with two races today, Emma Plaesschart BEL extended her lead on 10 points. Anne-Marie Rindom DEN follows on 2nd. ----- Nicholas Heiner NED increased his lead in the Finns with two race wins on 14 points. Joan Cardona ESP remains on the 2nd rank. ----- All ranking lists and the report of the day. ------ Medal Races in the 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 and RS:X fleets will commence tomorrow Saturday 03:00 UTC onwards and are on livestream on www.sailing-news.com.
