With fresh winds around 20 knots, the start of the 54th Solitaire, the season highlight of this single-handed class, took place in Caen yesterday at noon. 32 participants, including 10 newcomers (Bizuth) and 5 women are at the start. The first leg leads over 610 miles to Kinsale IRL and should take about 3 days. ----- This morning, the fleet is sailing close together across the English Channel with Guillaume Pirourelle FRA leading by 1.5 miles over Basile Bourgnon FRA. Elodie Bonafous FRA is the best classified woman in 7th place, 2.6 miles behind.
