49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 5
Saturday, April 16, 2016
The overcast sky allowed for a light and unconstant seabreeze only, but nevertheless, both classes completed three races each. Only a few realized three good results.
Despite of a flopped race - rank 17 - Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL extended once more their lead in the 49ers on now 41 points. The last three fleetraces and the Medal Race will hardly prevent them from winning their fourth European Champions' title in row. Nathan Outteridge/Iain Jensen AUS on 2nd have a 15 points' advance on Delle-Karth/Resch AUT, team of the day with the ranks 4/4/6. Ryan/Henken USA are now 23rd after a 5th race rank yesterday. Barrows/Morris USA however are down on 40th with a DNF.
Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA defended their first place in the 49ersFX. They have a 10 points' advance on Victoria Travascio/Marie-Sol Branz ARG before the last races today. Chances for the title have also the 3rd-ranked Tamara Echegoyen/Berta Betanzos ESP and yesterday's best (4/2/4) Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL now on rank 4. Ranks 21/19/29 was nor what Henken/Scutt USA needed to approach the top-10 for the Medal Race. They dropped on rank 16, 35 points behind rank 10. Rafuse/Boyd CAN are 22nd.
