A strong 20-25 kn 'Vento' prevailed yesterday morning and numerous capsizes and equipment failures occurred in these sometimes sketchy conditions. The afternoon's 'Ora' was again too light and the skiffs were kept ashore. The qualifications for the Gold-, Silver- and Bronzefleet has been concluded with four valid races.
Winning the two races in his Group, the defending Champion Paul Goodison GBR impressed again, but Tom Slingsby AUS with three race wins remains in touch with the leader, as do Rob Greenalgh GBR and Ian Jensen AUS one resp. two points behind. Qualified for the Goldfleet are also the two-times World Champion Nathan Outteridge AUS despite of two abandoned races due to gear failure and as only woman Annalise Murphy IRL as 45th. The best North American Brad Funk USA on rank 69 will continue the Championship in the Silverfleet. The Final Series will begin today.
